One of the most popular Broadways musicals of the last several years is The Lion King. Actors and actresses dress up as animals and sing and dance across the stage, capturing the hearts of both the young and the old. It tells the story of a lion cub destined to be king of his heard, but who has to overcome many obstacles beforehand. It also tells the story of love between him and the lioness Nala. Bestowing values of friendship and bravery, it is a musical that will be remembered for years to come.
Another musical that became surprisingly popular is Wicked. It tells the story of the life of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, showing how she became the person that she was. It tells the tale of a family struggling through extraordinary difficulties and describes how they manage to get their relationships with each other back to something next to normal by the end of the performance. The play from start to finish is mind-blowing and has two separate draw-dropping twists. The songs are full of emotions which capture the audience’s heart by the end.
